Bird Photos: Oddities: Partial albino calidrid

This is a bird that was photgraphed by Gary Nielsen on September 11, 2003 at the Carmel River in Carmel CA. Gary said that it was hanging out with and appeared a bit larger than Western Sandpipers. My feeling is that it is a Western Sandpiper and the brightness makes it appear more prominent and, possibly, appear larger. But this is pure speculation on my part. I recall a Monterey Bay Birds posting or a BirdBox report from around the same time of possibly this bird. The reporter opined that it looked like a Least Sandpiper. What do you think?
