Bird Photos: Oddities: Steller's Jay with a deformed bill

This bird was photographed by Terry Coddington in Berkeley, CA on 1/26/05. He noticed the same bird, or one just like it in late 2004.

Terry noted that this bird could eat by pressing its face to the feeding surface and picking up seed with the side of its bill. It would feed alone, coming to the feeder after other jays left. He mentioned that there was another curve-billed jay that occurred in the Oakland, called "Captain Hook", that was a Western Scrub-Jay.
