These are some images that I took in Hawaii in
June and September, and in Alaska in June.
Pacific Golden-Plover in June in Hawaii
This photo of an adult male
was taken at Paiko Lagoon, Oahu, HI on 6/8/95. The image
quality is poor because was scanned from a slide and it
was a "dot-bird" in the original slide.
This was also taken in the
same location and time as the above image. I would guess
that at this time of year, this is probably a non-breeder.
The image quality is low because it was also scanned from
a slide.
Pacific Golden-Plover in September in Hawaii
This bird may be more applicable
to the Alviso Golden-Plover. This was taken on 9/1/98 in
Kaneohe, Oahu, HI. The remnant black belly feathering is
reminiscent of the Alviso bird.
Same bird as above, slightly
different position showing tertials, tail and wing tips.
Taken on 9/1/98 in Kaneohe, Oahu, HI.
American Golden-Plover, Seward
Peninsula, AK
American Golden-Plover, male
on tundra breeding grounds. Taken on 6/7/03 along the Kougarak
Road on the Seward Peninsula, AK.
